The Value of Counselling
In the lives of most of us there are times when we experience difficulties or have to face distressing events which leave us feeling unhappy, anxious, depressed or confused. Sometimes it seems there is no end or solution in sight and our usual way of coping is not adequate to deal with it.
Counselling can offer you the opportunity to talk these things over, in confidence, with a skilled and caring person. This can often enable you to reach a better understanding of your problems and give you the confidence to decide the best way forward for yourself.
The First Appointment
This will be with an Assessment counsellor who will explore the issues that have brought you to us. The Assessor has experience in assessing people's problems and will be able to discuss whether counselling is likely to be the most useful way ahead. Counselling may not be the right kind of help for everybody, and if this is the case the Centre can assist in finding alternatives.
Confidentiality
All personal information disclosed to a counsellor is confidential to Redhill Counselling Centre. In very exceptional circumstances, disclosure to the relevant authority may be necessary although any such disclosure would always be discussed with you first.
Our Fees
The Centre is a registered charity that aims to provide a high quality, affordable counselling service to the local community. This provides access to a valuable service to many who could not otherwise afford it. The Centre relies on client contributions, donations, sponsorship and fund raising activities in order to meet the costs of providing this service. Whilst the agreement of fees forms part of the individual contract between client and counsellor, the following represents a guideline to the Centre's expectations regarding fees from clients whose household income falls into the typical average income for the area.
Initial assessment £40.00 (including a non-refundable deposit of £20.00)
Counselling fees £25.00 - £40.00 per session
Those who feel that they may benefit from counselling but for whom such fee levels would be genuinely beyond their means are nonetheless very welcome at the Centre. In the current economic climate the Centre has naturally lowered its expectations in respect of typical individual client contributions and will endeavour to extend its charitable objectives to all those who may benefit from counselling but who may otherwise not be able to afford it.
